The goal of our courses

Hadrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said;

“The seeking of knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim.” [Sunan Ibn Maajah – 224]

Our long term vision is that every Muslim in the United Kingdom enters adulthood with the necessary knowledge to carry out their religious obligations.

However, the amount of knowledge that must be sought, will depend entirely on the level of duty the person has.

Religious duty can be divided into two kinds: Individual Duty and Communal Duty.

Every Muslim has an individual duty, so is therefore, as a minimum, required to seek sufficient knowledge to carry out that duty. It will also give students a firm foundation in the core sciences of Islamic Studies within the bounds of Ahl’ al-Sunnah.

Some examples of individual duty are:
  • Prayer (Salah)
  • Fasting (Sawm)
  • Charity (Zakat)

Additionally, the Muslim community has a communal and collective duty. This duty is undertaken on their behalf by select, specially trained people. Therefore, in addition to seeking knowledge to fulfil their own individual duty, these people are required to seek sufficient knowledge to carry out the communal duty.

Some examples of communal duty are:
  • Teaching and guiding the community
  • Conducting marriage ceremonies
  • Washing, shrouding, praying over and burying the deceased
  • Based on this, we have designed three courses: Islamic Studies, Arabic Studies and Scholarship Studies.
